IKEA and LEGO's BYGGLEK Collection

It’s been a very long time that I haven’t updated my blog. Here you go!

Today, I found a very interesting product from IKEA x LEGO. The first LEGO and IKEA collaboration product – The BYGGLEK collection – features four products, three sets of boxes and one set of bricks by Danish toy manufacturer LEGO. The boxes are compatible with all other LEGO bricks. They have LEGO studs on their top and front, and the idea is that they can be used for both storage and for play.

This collaboration is very well-matched, the BYGGLEK collection, which draws from IKEA’s love for storage and LEGO’s fascination with fun to develop playful storage solutions for people.

I still haven’t seen this collection sell in Hong Kong, but I hope I can buy it very soon.

Thanks for Hypebeast for the info.

Heineken Cube Bottle

Do you like beers? Would you like to try a Heineken Cube?

These innovative stackable bottles will easily fit into your refrigerator, no space lost. It's designed for Heineken beer by French industrial designer Petit Romain.

The concept of this packaging will result in cost saving during transportation and storage. More shelf space for stores and less impact on environment.

The Heineken Cube is still just a concept that has no official date  for general release. While the Cube is a new  concept, the idea of a square beer bottle is not a new idea to  Heineken. The beer maker attempted in 1963 to help with recycling, and  so the bottle could be used in construction.

It’s hard to argue with the fact that these cube beer bottles would be  much easier to pack and stack, saving companies money on shipping which  would hopefully translate to a reduction in both carbon emissions and price.

Anyway, the design looks good and cool. But these little cute babies don't appear to allow for easy drinking straight from the bottle.

Thanks to Toxel for the info and also click here to check out Petit Romain's portfolio.

Prepara Ice Balls

These Prepara Ice Ball molds are fun to use and allow you to be creative with your ice for drinks. You only need one per glass as they are about the size of a golf ball. You can snap them together or tuck them into the unused spaces in your freezer.

Place mint leaves, whole or sliced berries, slices of citrus or larger fruits, or even edible flowers into these ice ball molds, fill with water and freeze them. You can also freeze juices, nectars, or purees in the molds to keep a pitcher or bowl full of cold liquid chilled without diluting it.

Comes in a set of 4, the 2-inch orbs are BPA free, and have a top silicone seal so your ice balls won’t smell or catch flavors from left-over food in your freezer.

Be creative and start making your cool drinks! You can buy it here!

SWISSMISS – A Typographic Dating Game

If you have a hard time making choices when choosing or combining fonts, Type Connection will help you to solve this problem. It is a little typographic dating game designed by Aura Seltzer to help you to learn how to pair typefaces.

Like a conventional dating website, Type Connection presents you with potential "dates" for each main character without the misleading profile photos and commitment-phobes.

I personally didn’t find it too helpful! But it is very interesting and it gives tons of information about fonts.

Thanks to DEXIGER for the info! Click here to check out this funny dating game!

Sustainable Origami Food Box

This is packaging for a quick service mobile eatery in Manila, Philippines called Guactruck, a little food truck.

It is designed by Michealle Lee. It is inspired by origami, the packaging resembles a bud that blooms into a flower when opened. It was created with sustainability in mind, being only one piece of paperboard with no glue or plastic. It focuses on creativity and aesthetics, as well as highlights the environmental aspect commonly associated with packaging.

Four Flavoured Butter Knife Packaging

These four flavoured butter knife packagings are designed by Yeongkeun Jeong. The idea is to package butter in a very convenient single-serve way, so it is perfect for traveling or picnics. The wooden knife lid is used to spread the butter without carrying an additional cutlery.

As a fan of butter, I love this idea and I think this kind of all-in-one concept can be extended to yogurt and ice cream packaging designs.

Creative Toothpaste Packaging

It’s always annoying when you used around 95% of what’s in your tube of toothpaste and no matter how much you squeezed and pressed the darned thing, the toothpaste that you know is still inside just won’t come out.

Here is a creative toothpaste packaging designed by Sang Min Yu and Wong Sang Lee that allows you to squeeze out every last bit of toothpaste. It's called SavePaste, which is a whole new way to package toothpaste without the wastage at the end.

SavePaste has a three-point agenda: To eliminate the hard-to-squeeze dead space, minimizing toothpaste residue left inside the container and also reduce two packaging to one. It means we can reduce waste and manufacturing price plus encourage recycling. And finally, have a user-friendly design so that people easily adopt it.

I really hope this toothpaste packaging will appear in the market very soon!

A Russian advertising agency, Stoyn, has created a line of experimental ice creams depicting 10 iconic characters in world culture and embodied their images  into ice creams. The ingredients and tastes of each ice cream reflect the personality and talent of each character. Available in a range of flavours: cranberry & vodka (Vladimir Mayakovsky), blueberry & licorice (Darth  Vader), mate & rum (Ernesto Che Guevara), strawberry & cream (Marilyn Monroe), banana & chocolate (Donald Duck), mango (Mickey Mouse) and tequila sunrise (Super Mario), etc.

They look really awesome and cute. It's a brilliant idea and I bet some of them do taste real good. To check out more pictures, please visit Stoyn website.
